Almost Done 12 more caddies to go and I will be ready for Fridays show!!

I can finally see the light at the end of the tunnel! I will be done with sticky gluey fingers today!!! I was really worried I would not get through this when my thumb started giving me issues and this is definitely what did it (building caddies) cause I am sore again!

Thread Caddy Sizes that are Available

I have 3 sizes I am currently making they are Medium holds 12 bobbins for $13, Large holds 18 bobbins for $20 or the one that was designed to hold all 36 pre-wound cardboard side bobbins (from Superior Threads or Piece-O-cake) for $25. I will custom make any size in any fabric you like

I LOVE to hear from You!

I just received an e-mail from a woman who bought a caddy from me at a quilt show last year while on vacation here in Florida. She said my caddy was featured in a gadget gurus session in Illinois! Word is getting out there from quilters sharing their love of using Thread caddies while sewing on the go!
I designed the caddy to fit a need I had, to take a large selection of colors of thread in a small amount of space that was easy to use when I sat and waited for Doctor appointments or in the car, etc...
When other quilters saw mine when I would stitch at meetings they wanted one too and that is how I "wound up" (excuse the pun) here! Making thread caddy after caddy as fast as I can. I have actually aggravated the joint in my thumb and wrist from over use to the point I had to get an injection & have to wear a brace when it really pains me.
I love to hear from you tell me what you like or even what you don't like about the caddy.
I may have to kit it up in the future and teach classes on how to make them if  the arthritis in my hands keeps giving me trouble.
Until then I will keep on keeping on!
Thanks Peggy for endorsing The Thread Caddy!!!! Hope to see you at the show!

Thread Caddy Directions

How to use your Thread Caddy

Directions:

To begin using your thread caddy you will need to wind your favorite brand of appliqué thread on class 15 bobbins or purchase pre-wound bobbins from Superior Threads or Piece O Cake www.superiorthreads.com/shop/category/dozen-masterpiece-l-bobbins/products/

www.pieceocake.com/Notions/thread.html

You can use your sewing machine or a Wrights Side Winder™ bobbin winder to wind your bobbins. Place all the bobbins in the caddy with the thread coming over the top of the bobbins, the thread tail of each color should be hanging outside and over the edge of the caddy. Close the caddy and fasten the Velcro tab. It was designed NOT to close all the way! There should be a little peek space so your color selection is visible. It is not necessary to open the caddy to use it, simply pull the thread tail of the color you desire to the length you need and cut it. Pet the tails of the threads onto the fabric cover of the caddy they will adhere to it.

NOTE:

Remember if you wound your own bobbins from a spool the thread direction has now been reversed, thread does have a nap, so if you find your thread twisting back on itself when your are stitching or knotting excessively, reverse the thread direction next time you thread your needle. The rule of thumb is Right hander’s: knot the end you did not cut and Left hander’s: knot the end you cut this is only if you wound your own bobbins this is reversed if you use pre-wound bobbins as they are to be treated like regular spools.

Some of my customers tell me they like to label their bobbins with the color # from the spool they wound it from. so they know what color to replace when it runs out. The reinforcements we used to use on notebook paper in school is handy for this, just be sure to use a permanent marker.

I have been told other brands of bobbins do fit inside the caddy however it was designed to work best with Class 15 Singer bobbins. You may find when you load it with pre-wound cardboard bobbins you may have to fasten the Velcro loosely until the cardboard bobbin sides break in from use.
